Wreaths Laid before Martyrs' Cemeteries
Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Wreaths were laid before the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong and the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery and floral baskets before the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Memorial Tower on Thursday on the occasion of the 62nd birthday of the DPRK.

Seen on the wreath-laying stands at the cemeteries were wreaths sent by General Secretary
Kim Jong Il.

Present at ceremonies of laying wreaths and floral baskets were senior army and state officials, the chairperson of a friendly party, officials of the organs of the party, armed forces and government, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army and working people in Pyongyang.

Wreaths in the name of the WPK Central Committee, the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and the Cabinet were laid on the wreath-laying stands at the martyrs cemeteries.

A floral basket in the joint name of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the WPK was laid before the main theme sculpture "Victory" of the memorial tower.

Then, laid before the martyrs cemeteries and the memorial tower were wreaths and floral baskets in the name of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, the Ministry of People's Security, working people's organizations, ministries, national institutions, units of the KPA, organs of science, education, public health and media, and party and power organs, factories and farms in Pyongyang and bouquets.

The participants paid silent tribute in memory of the martyrs who devoted their all to the liberation of the country, the freedom and happiness of the people, the prosperity of the country and the victory of the Songun revolutionary cause. They also paid deep respects to the servicepersons of the heroic Korean People's Army who achieved the historic victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War and honorably defended the sovereignty of the country and gains of the revolution.

Wreaths were also laid before statues of martyrs, the monuments to the fallen fighters of the KPA and martyrs' cemeteries and graves in different parts of the country on the same day.
