DPRK Wins Gold in Taekwon-do Championships
Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- The DPRK proved successful in the 9th Junior and the 4th Veteran Taekwon-do World Championships.

In the junior championships the DPRK bagged 14 gold medals, two silver medals and three bronze medals and came first in the total standings to win a trophy.

The Korean players placed first in men's and women's team pattern competitions, women's team sparring matches and women's team exhibitions for special skills.

Ra Kyong Hun took the men's A Class pattern individual title, Kim Kyong Myong the men's C Class pattern individual title and Ri Ra Ryong the men's self-defense competitions title.

Kim Kum Jong came first in the women's sparring individual (40kg) and women's self-defense competitions, Kim Yong Gyong, Kim Ji Hyang and Kim Hyang Sim each in the women's A Class, B Class and C Class pattern individuals. Kim Su Ryon won gold medal in the women's individual sparring (70kg) and Kim Il Hwa in the women's individual sparring (over 70kg).

Male and female overall champions were awarded to Ra Kyong Hun and Kim Kum Jong.

The DPRK also took the first place in total standings of the veteran championships.

Pak Un Ho emerged winner in the men's C Class pattern individual and Kim Jong Sun in the women's A Class pattern individual and sparring (68kg).

Kim Jong Sun was awarded the female overall champion of the veteran championships.
