Song Ja Rip, president of Kim Il Sung University who doubles as minister of Higher Education, recalled in his report that Kim Jong Il started his dynamic leadership at the university on September 1, Juche 49 (1960) with his noble will to glorify Korea, adding that this marked a landmark event in carrying forward and accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche.

He referred to the fact that Kim Jong Il climbed Ryongnam Hill and made a historic pledge to glorify Korea, prompted by his noble aim to carry forward and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche, revolutionary cause of President Kim Il Sung, generation after generation.

Since the day Kim Jong Il energetically conducted revolutionary activities, the reporter noted, and went on:

Conducting the revolutionary activities at the university Kim Jong Il further developed in depth the Juche idea and the Songun idea of the President with his energetic ideological and theoretical activities and revolutionary practices.

Kim Jong Il, deeply considerate of education and scientific researches of the university, directed big efforts to strengthening the university into the central base of training the successors to the revolutionary cause of Juche and a powerful center for the development of the nation's science and technology.

Today the university is shining with the revolutionary relics of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu and training huge contingents of national cadres capable of playing the pivotal role in education and science and various fields of politics, economy and culture.

The reporter stressed the need to put the education and science of the university on the world level and qualitatively train many more competent revolutionary personnel who would make positive contribution to building a thriving nation and accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche.
