Japan Urged to Make Early Reparation to Victims of Sexual Slavery
Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- Amnesty International released a statement on August 13, demanding that the Japanese government make early reparation to victims of the sexual slavery.

The statement recalled that the Japanese prime minister, in his statement issued on the lapse of a century since Japan fabricated the "Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty" and illegally annexed Korea to it, did not mention the issue of comfort women at all.

This is a grave act of denying the facts that the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army was in force when Japan was invading all areas of Asia to turn them into its colonies, the statement said, and continued:

Japan has not paid any reparation to the victims. Amnesty International considers that such attitude of the Japanese government is only adding to its abuses of women's rights.

Growing stronger among many countries in the world and international organizations including the United Nations Human Rights Commission and even among people in Japan are the voices demanding reparation to the survivors of the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army, it noted, and went on:

Amnesty International demands that the Japanese government make early reparation to the victims of the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army.

The Japanese government should admit all legal responsibilities for the sufferings of the comfort women.

It should make an honest apology to the victims and make appropriate and substantial reparation to the survivors and their families.

It should make sure that textbooks properly deal with the sexual slavery enforced in World War II.
