Suppression of South Korean Reunification Champion under Fire
Pyongyang, August 24 (KCNA) -- Members of south Korean civic and public organizations including the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification, the Solidarity for Progress and the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification held a press conference in Seoul on August 20 at which they demanded the release of Rev. Han Sang Ryol.

Speakers at the press conference said that the true treacherous and anti-reunification nature of the Lee Myung Bak's regime was disclosed by the attitude taken by the regime against Han.

They accused the authorities of their desperate efforts to get rid of their crisis through suppression of the progressive camp under the pretext of security.

They strongly demanded the authorities stop at once the crackdown upon Han and immediately set him free.

The South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification issued a statement on the same day lashing out at the authorities' suppression of Han who conducted activities with the will for national independence, peace and reunification as an act against the nation, reunification and the June 15 joint declaration. It vowed to struggle against the authorities' crackdown upon Han.
