Appointment Jo Hyon Ho as Chief of Police Agency Protested in S. Korea
Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- Human rights, civic and public organizations in south Korea issued a joint statement on August 19 in protest against the puppet authorities' action to appoint Jo Hyon Ho, chief of the puppet Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency ill-famed for being a fascist maniac, as chief of the "National Police Agency."

As far as Jo Hyon Ho is concerned, he slandered the former "president" who signed the October 4 declaration and branded those who turned out to express the democratic will including candlelight actions in 2008 as "forces disturbing law and order", the statement said, and went on:

He committed extreme human rights abuses such as instructing police to fire water cannon at the participants in a meeting in winter and mercilessly suppressing a strike of the Ssangyong Motors Workers Union.

He has become an icon of cruel and brutal police as he shut his eyes to irregularities and corruption of the police and committed illegal acts, behaving mercilessly towards people under the signboard of "law-abiding order." It is an insult to the people to have informally designated this guy as chief of the "National Police Agency."

The statement urged Lee Myung Bak to cancel the action taken to appoint Jo as police chief, drawing a lesson from the miserable end met by the preceding dictators.
