Lee Myung Bak's Anti-Reunification Remarks Flailed
Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Solidarity for Progress and other civic and public organizations of south Korea called a press conference in Seoul on August 18, denouncing traitor Lee Myung Bak for his anti-reunification remarks.

Speakers at the conference blasted Lee Myung Bak for running the whole gamut of such vituperations as "proposal of three-phase unification" through "peaceful community," "economic community" and "national community" and "unification tax".

The "three-phase unification proposal" made by Lee Myung Bak is an extension of the anti-reunification confrontational policy based on watchwords "no nukes, opening and 3,000 dollars", which pushed the south-north relations to the present catastrophe, and talk about "unification tax" was prompted by his sinister scheme presupposing "emergency in the north", they charged.

If he is truly interested in talking about reunification, he should backtrack from his hostile policy toward the DPRK and clarify his stand on the implementation of the north-south declarations.

The Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration, too, released a statement on the same day in which it accused the Lee Myung Bak dictatorial regime of dampening the atmosphere of independence, peaceful reunification and the great national unity, which mounted in the wake of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, and intensifying the moves to escalate confrontation with fellow countrymen, kick up a war racket, stamp out democracy and deteriorate the people's livelihood.
