Pyongyang, August 20 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place in front of the Three Charters for National Reunification Memorial Tower this morning to bid farewell to Rev. Han, reunification champion of south Korea.

Among those present there were An Kyong Ho, chairman of the North Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration, Kang Yong Sop, chairman of the Central Committee of the Christian Federation of Korea, and members of the north side committee and the north headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification and the Pan-national Alliance of Youth and Students for Korea's Reunification.

An in his speech said that Han's visit to Pyongyang is warmly supported and encouraged by organizations at home and abroad and personages from all walks of life as it is a patriotic deed to demonstrate once again the patriotic faith and will of the fellow countrymen for reunification, promote national reconciliation and unity and make a breakthrough in the barrier of confrontation.

Noting that the fellow countrymen in the north and the south and overseas will accomplish the cause of national reunification under the uplifted banner of the June 15 joint declaration, he said that the compatriots in the north would always stand by Rev. Han making his life worthwhile for the sake of the country and the nation, cherishing the will for reunification and patriotism.

Han said in his speech that he met fellow countrymen in the north and heard their hearts beating, united close as one, witnessed miracles being wrought in the spirit of self-reliance and noticed their desire for peaceful reunification.

The June 15 joint declaration is the only best medicine for healing the scars caused by the divided country, he noted, adding:

I do not feel lonely and fearful as I am joined by the fellow countrymen in the north and the south and abroad and there is human conscience for me. I will wait and wait for our reunion in tears of joy.

At the end of the meeting Han left for Panmunjom, holding the Korean Peninsula flag in his hand amid the warm farewell of the crowd.
