Anniversary of Korea's Liberation Marked in Russia
Pyongyang, August 20 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place in Russia on Aug. 16 to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

Displayed in its venue were works of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and books on their undying exploits.

Attending it were personages of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and popular masses.

Officials of the DPRK embassy in Moscow were present on invitation.

The 65th anniversary of Korea's liberation is a common holiday of not only the Korean people but Korean friends in Russia and the world progressives, speakers said, referring to the fact that Kim Il Sung led to victory the anti-Japanese war to crush the Japanese imperialists and achieve national liberation and freedom and independence of the country.

They noted:

Kim Il Sung built a democratic state of the people in Korea after its liberation and led to victory the Fatherland Liberation War against the aggression of the U.S. imperialists and their allied forces, thus successfully protecting the dignity of the country.

All the lines and policies of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il are the just ones entirely in the interests of not only the Korean people but other peoples in the world.

The Korean people are making a dynamic advance toward a thriving nation undeterred by the repeated natural disasters and the moves of the imperialist allied forces to stifle the DPRK under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, the speakers said, reiterating the invariable support for the struggle of the Korean people to build a thriving socialist nation and achieve national reunification.
