US, S. Korea Continue Military Maneuvers
Pyongyang, August 20 (KCNA) -- A tough-and-go situation has persisted on the Korean peninsula with the U.S. imperialists and the Lee Myung Bak puppet regime of south Korea stubbornly resorting to military threat against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

They kicked up joint military exercises, codenamed Ulji Freedom Guardian, on August 16.

Participating in the military exercises are more than 30,000 American servicepersons based in south Korea and other regions, some 56,000-strong forces of south Korea, at least 400,000 south Korean civilians and latest-type combat equipment, including nuclear strike means.

The commander of the south Korea-based U.S. forces revealed that the ongoing training was one of the largest joint staff directed theatre exercises in the world.

The training is viewed as the largest-ever nuclear war rehearsal in the scope of forces and means and in its content and character and the U.S. and south Korean warmongers are apparently going into action for invasion of the DPRK.

From the beginning of the year they have waged war exercises against the DPRK under different pretexts.

They staged large-scale joint military maneuvers Key Resolve and Foal Eagle and joint naval exercises in March. In June, they whipped up war hysteria on the ground and the sea and in the air allegedly to cope with someone's intrusion and provocation after fabricating the warship "Cheonan" sinking incident.

They perpetrated a joint naval training in the East Sea of Korea in July and committed another large-sized joint drill in the West Sea of Korea in early August by mobilizing south Korean soldiers, sailors, pilots and marines, more than 4,500 in all, 29 warships including destroyers, submarines and patrol crafts, and over 50 fighters such as "F-15K" and "KF-16".

All the facts go to prove that the U.S. and the south Korean regime are warmanics wrecking peace and seeking a war on the Korean peninsula.
