Japan's Moves for Revival of Militarism Flailed
Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- The Women's Peace Action against Japanese Militarism and War on the Occasion of the Centenary of the Fabrication of the "Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty" in south Korea made up of the Women's Solidarity and other women's organizations held a rally outside the Japanese embassy in Seoul on August 15.

Speeches were made by Ri Kang Sil, permanent representative of the Women's Solidarity, Kang Ju Hye, secretary general of the Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps, and others at the rally.

Japan has not yet settled the crimes it committed during the colonial rule over Korea even though 65 years have passed since Korea's liberation, they deplored.

They accused the Japanese government of concealing its past crimes in collusion with the south Korean authorities and escalating tension on the Korean Peninsula by pursuing a hostile policy toward the DPRK.

Noting that the Japanese government is strengthening the military tie-up with the U.S. and the south Korean authorities, they urged Japan to bear in mind that the triangular military alliance would only precipitate its self-destruction.

They urged the Japanese government to immediately redeem the past crimes and halt the moves to revive militarism.

The organization in a resolution recalled that resolutions calling for the settlement of the issue of "comfort women" were being adopted in city and county "assemblies" across south Korea and people from all walks of life were staging a 500,000-people signature campaign demanding the Japanese government legally settle the issue.

It called on the people to certainly hold in check Japan's moves to revive militarism and warlike forces' attempt to launch a war.
