10-day Film Show Opens
Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- A 10-day film show was opened with due ceremony at the People's Palace of Culture on Wednesday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's start of the Songun revolutionary leadership.

To be screened in this period are documentaries "The Fatherly Leader with Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Fighters", "Great Succession", "Under the Guidance of the Great Brilliant Commander" (series) and others.

Cinema-goers will watch feature films "Lovely Sunshine" (Part 1), "A White Gem" (Parts 1 and 2), "Soldier's Appearance", "A Day of Training" and "Wives of Officers."

Present at the opening ceremony were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, creators and artistes in the field of movie industry and working people in Pyongyang.

Kim Ki Nam in his opening speech referred to the fact that Kim Jong Il, creditable successor to the cause of the Songun revolution started by President Kim Il Sung, has strengthened the revolutionary ranks in every way, defended the sovereignty and dignity of the nation and ushered in a new era of building a rich and powerful country on this land.

At the end of the ceremony the participants watched a documentary "Providing a Great Turn with the Songun Revolutionary Leadership."

A similar event took place in each province on the same day.
