US Moves for MD under Fire
Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- The U.S. recent negotiations on setting up an X band radar system in Bulgaria and other countries are pushed forward at a final phase and this system is expected to go operational from next year, according to press reports.

Meanwhile, the U.S. is contemplating building the missile defense system and "Aegis" system in Romania through two phases by 2015 and in Poland through three phases by 2018.

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes in a signed commentary in this regard:

The U.S. intensified moves for MD are blatant challenge to the desire of humankind for peace and criminal acts of seriously threatening and disturbing the world peace and security.

Having already built up a MD network in Northeast Asia including the vicinity of the Korean Peninsula and Japan, the U.S. seeks to build the same network in Europe.

By completing the building of missile shields in Southern Europe the U.S. seeks to cover the whole of Europe with a network of interceptor missiles.

It is the scenario of the U.S. to push forward the building of missile shields in Northeast Asia and Europe and make them cover the whole world.

What should not be overlooked is that the U.S. persistent moves for MD are sparking off a global arms race.

The DPRK has repeatedly warned that the moves stepped up by the U.S. to build missile shields in the vicinity of the Korean Peninsula amount to hostile acts against the DPRK and a grave threat to it.

Nevertheless, the U.S. is persistently intensifying those moves targeted against the DPRK.

It is as clear as noonday that the U.S. reckless anachronistic moves will adversely affect the efforts to preserve world peace.

The U.S. will be held wholly accountable for the ensuing serious consequences.
