Japan Urged to Backtrack from Discrimination Policy
Pyongyang, August 15 (KCNA) -- The "National Society for Exchanges Desirous of Peace and Democracy", an organization for exchanges among trade union members and activists across Japan, held its 40th conference in Osaka on July 31 and August 1 and demanded the Japanese authorities withdraw their policy of discrimination against the Korean schools in Japan.

A special resolution was adopted at the conference.

Unpardonable is the Japanese authorities' violation of human rights, the rights of Korean schoolchildren to learn to be specific, it said.

It urged the governor of Osaka Prefecture to retract his remarks inciting discrimination against the Korean schools and national chauvinism and immediately pay aid funds to Korean schools in the prefecture. It also urged the Japanese authorities to include Korean schools in the tuition-waiver program.

It called upon Koreans in Japan and the Japanese people to render active cooperation and make efforts to ensure equal opportunity of education for the students of the Korean schools.
