Japanese PM's Statement Dismissed Hypocritical
Pyongyang, August 15 (KCNA) -- The Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps in south Korea denounced the Japanese prime minister for announcing his hypocritical statement on Aug. 10.

The organization in its statement said that the Japanese prime minister issued the statement of apology for Japan's past colonial domination over Korea on the occasion of the centenary of the fabrication of the "Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty".

His statement is void of any solution to the issue of reparation for the damage caused to the Koreans, the organization said.

Condemning the prime minister for his base act of issuing the statement of no progress while turning down the demand of the international community including the UN, the statement urged the Japanese government to take immediate administrative and legal measures for the settlement of the issue of the victims to Japan's colonial rule over Korea.

If the Japanese authorities are truly willing to make apology, they should make reparation for the "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army, the victims of the compulsory military service and the forced labor and the Koreans in Japan suffering from discrimination and suppression by the Japanese authorities, deprived of even elementary rights, it noted.

The Japanese authorities should refrain from claiming "dominium over Tok Islets" and making any absurd remarks about the victims but opt for properly settling the past, it concluded.
