Int'l Seminar Held in Tokyo
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- An international seminar "We question Japan about the centenary of "Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty" was held in Tokyo on August 6 and 7 on the occasion of the centenary of the fabrication of the brigandish treaty by the Japanese imperialists.

The participants in the seminar denounced the Japanese imperialists for putting Korea under their military occupation early in the 20th century and imposing all sorts of misfortune and sufferings upon the Korean people through a colonial rule. They deplored that the leftover of colonial idea still remains and persistently reigns in social realms of Japan.

Akira Nakatsuka, honorary professor at Nara National Women's University, referred in her speech to the grave situation prevailing in Japan these days where open remarks beautifying Hirobumi Ito are heard, adding that the aggressive, brigandish and colonial assertion of Ito that Japan's security could not be guaranteed if other country occupies Korea is still reflected in its Korea policy.

She lambasted the Japanese authorities for working hard to perpetuate the division of the Korean Peninsula, not its reunification.

Other speakers also lashed out at the Japanese authorities for refusing to redress their crimes though a century has passed since the fabrication of the above-said treaty, far from taking the stand of owning the responsibility for its colonial rule over Korea in the past and reflecting on it.

This is clearly evidenced by the authorities' discrimination and abuses of rights of Koreans in Japan, the victims of the colonial rule, and their children, they held.

They urged the Japanese authorities to roll back the unreasonable policy of discrimination against the Korean schools and stop violating the rights of Koreans in Japan and other actions.
