Liberation Won with Strength of Korean People
Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung defeated the Japanese imperialists by guiding the final offensive for national liberation to victory.

With the lapse of days in 1945, the defeat of the Japanese imperialists was getting nearer.

At that time the President was busy with preparations for defeating the Japanese imperialists by dint of the Korean people's strength and achieving national liberation.

In line with his strategic plan, the units of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) were reorganized to carry out the final offensive operation.

Besides, many armed organizations were newly formed and full preparations made to arouse all people in the operation together with the KPRA units.

On the night of August 8, the President ordered small units to surprise some points of military importance in border areas, throwing the enemy into confusion.

It was his intention for making a breakthrough in the anti-Japanese operation to compel the enemy to reveal the defence system, manpower and firearms reinforced by them covertly by attacking the points of military importance.

On August 9 the President issued an order of an all-out offensive to the KPRA units for the liberation of the country.

Some KPRA units advanced toward Kilju, Pukchong, Sinhung and Kanggye from the secret camp in Mt. Kanbaek and some other units broke through the enemy's frontier bastions along the Tuman River while furthering the achievement in the war.

Civilian armed organizations joined KPRA units in their advance, mopping up remnants of the enemy and attacking the enemy's posts in different parts of the country.

The attackers annihilated the resisting Japanese troops and disarmed them of their weapons.

The Japanese imperialists could not but announce an unconditional surrender on August 15, a week after the start of the all-out offensive.
