Carrying his photo, the bulletin said in an article that the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, was a fundamental factor that made it possible for the DPRK, not a big country, to protect its sovereignty and dignity and win a victory, standing firm in confrontation with the U.S. styling itself the world's "only superpower."

The bulletin referred to the fact that Kim Jong Il has led the People's Army to creditably perform its mission as a defender of the socialist country, firmly established the traits of attaching importance to military affairs throughout the society and carried out the work for putting all people under arms and fortifying the whole country at a higher level.

Kim Jong Il has further reinforced the single-minded unity of the society in the DPRK, brought about a stirring reality in which it is making a leap forward toward a thriving nation, ushered in a turning phase in Korea's reunification and remarkably raised the international position of the country with his Songun leadership, it stressed.
