Anniversary of Start of Songun Leadership Observed
Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- Meetings and book exhibitions were held in Italy and Germany and a book and photo exhibition opened in Guinea between July 23 and 26 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's start of Songun revolutionary leadership.

Displayed in their venues were works of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, photos on their Songun revolutionary leadership exploits and books and photos introducing the Korean people in their efforts to build a thriving nation and achieve the national reunification.

Speeches were made at the functions.

The secretary of the Livorno City Committee of the Communist Reconstruction Party of Italy said that Kim Jong Il developed in depth the Juche idea, the Songun idea, founded by Kim Il Sung, in keeping with the requirement of the era of independence and turned socialist Korea into a powerful country, independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in national defence, undeterred by any moves of the imperialists for aggression and war.

Victory and glory are always in store for the Korean people as they are under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, he stressed.

The secretary of the Livorno City Committee of the Communist Party of Italy said that the victory of Korean socialism is reliably guaranteed thanks to the Korean People's Army which has grown to be strong revolutionary armed forces and invincible army under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il although the U.S. is running wild to stifle the DPRK by force.

Riyad Chaloub, chairman of the Guinean National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, said that Kim Jong Il's Songun leadership has made it possible for the Korean people to defend the sovereignty of the country and victoriously advance the cause of socialism despite any trials and hardships.

The exploits he performed for the Korean revolution and the human cause of independence with his Songun politics will remain long, the speaker stressed.
