Discriminatory Policy toward Korean Schools under Fire
Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- The "2nd emergency meeting of people in Hyogo Prefecture not allowing the exclusion of Korean schools from the tuition-free program for senior high schools" was held in Japan on July 26.

Present there were Korean residents and students in Japan and Japanese citizens.

It was addressed by students of Korean high school in Kobe, parents of students and personages concerned of Japanese civic organizations.

The speakers declared they could not forgive the Japanese authorities for pursuing a discriminatory policy toward the Korean schools by using education as a lever of political power.

The discriminatory measure toward the Korean schools also runs counter to the principle of "the fundamental law of education" of Japan which advocates "equal opportunity of learning," they held, demanding that the national education of Koreans in Japan be ensured from an international point of view.

An appeal calling for settling the issue of tuition-free program for the Korean schools was adopted there.

Students and teachers of Higashi Osaka Korean middle school also conducted a signature campaign in front of railway stations including Tsuruhashi and Momotani of Osaka Prefecture on July 23.
