Conclusion of Peace Treaty Called for
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Ahmed Hamrush, chairman of the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organization, issued a statement on July 20 in support of the Korean people's just cause.

The Korean War that broke out in 1950 ended up signing the Armistice Agreement in 1953, the statement noted, and continued:

The AA has not been replaced with a peace treaty and still remains a leftover of the Cold War.

Korea still remains divided despite the desire of all the Koreans and tens of thousands of U.S. forces are present in south Korea.

This poses constant threat to the peace in the region.

Traitor Lee Myung Bak's seizure of power in south Korea deteriorated the inter-Korean relations though they had favorably developed since the adoption of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the recent case of sunk warship "Cheonan," in particular, created such tense situation on the Korean Peninsula that a war may break out any moment.

The AAPSO holds that a peace treaty should be concluded between the DPRK and the U.S. so that it may contribute to the peaceful reunification of Korea.

The countries concerned with the issue of the Korean Peninsula should join efforts to achieve Korea's reunification in favor of peace in the region.
