Solution to Issue of Korean Schools in Japan Demanded
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- A meeting demanding the Korean schools' inclusion in the tuition-free program for senior high schools was held in Kyoto on July 11 under the co-sponsorship of the civic and students' organizations in Japan including the Keiji Society for Supporting Korean Schools and the Kyoto Students Society for Japan-Korea Friendship.

Present there were Koreans in Japan and Japanese citizens.

They saw a video showing the struggle waged by students of Korean middle higher school in Kyoto for the settlement of the issue of including Korean schools in the assistance list for senior high schools.

Speakers at the meeting accused the Japanese government of excluding only Korean schools from the assistance list under absurd charges and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of examining in secrecy the contents of education of Korean schools in a bid to justify it.

They asserted that the said issue can not see a solution unless Japan rolls back its one-sided national discrimination policy.

They called upon the Koreans in Japan and the Japanese citizens to wage dynamic struggle in firm unity for the proper enforcement of the national educational policy for the Koreans in Japan.

The meeting heard a report about the 500, 000 signature campaign for the assistance to Korean schools now underway in different parts of Japan.

An appeal made public there demanded the said ministry immediately take measures to include Korean schools in the tuition-free program.
