June 15 North-South Joint Declaration Supported
Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- The International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea issued a statement on July 5 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.

The statement said that the joint declaration is a great programme for Korea's reunification as it indicated the short-cut to achieving the reunification of Korea independently and peacefully by the efforts of the Koreans free from foreign interference.

It noted that traitor and anti-reunification element Lee Myung Bak's seizure of power in south Korea threw a grave obstacle in the way of Korea's reunification and scuttled all the undertakings to achieve reunification under the banner of the joint declaration.

His moves were prompted by his artifice to create an international environment for stifling the DPRK in pursuance of the U.S. policy externally and lay the blame for the bedeviled inter-Korean relations at its door in a bid to tide over his serious crisis internally, it charged.

The committee, regarding that only negotiation and reconciliation between the north the south of Korea help promote the reunification of Korea and achieve peace and security of the world, strongly urges the U.S. not to instigate the puppet authorities of south Korea to strain the situation on the Korean Peninsula but respond to the proposal of the DPRK for concluding a peace treaty.
