Settlement of Issue of "Comfort Women" for Japanese Army Urged
Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- The Washington Regional Committee for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers' Corps of the United States held a general meeting on June 11 stressing the need to settle the issue of "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army.

The committee at the meeting recalled that a plenary session of the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution urging the Japanese government to make a formal apology for Japan's past sexual slavery, but it has not opted for settling the issue, evading its responsibility for it.

The committee pointed out that it would launch a positive movement to find a solution to the above-said issue in the future.

To this end, the committee will conduct activities in solidarity with the signature campaign of the Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers' Corps in south Korea urging Japan to apologize and pay reparation for its sexual slavery, the committee said.

It stressed that the U.S. government should urge Japan to accept at once the resolution on the issue of "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army.
