As a result, the country's map was changed, an asset to bring about great progress in developing the nation's agriculture and improving the standard of people's living provided and an arable land equivalent to an area of a county has been obtained.

A ceremony for the completion of the reclamation project took place on the spot Wednesday.

Present there were Premier Choe Yong Rim, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Ki Nam, Vice-Premier Kim Rak Hui, Chief Secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK Kim Phyong Hae, Minister of Agriculture Kim Chang Sik, Minister of State Inspection Kim Ui Sun, and other officials concerned and officials and employees of the North Phyongan Provincial Tideland Reclamation Complex.

Choe Yong Rim conveyed a congratulatory message of the WPK Central Committee to the builders and helpers who performed shining labor feats in reclaiming the Taegyedo Tideland.

The message highly praised them for having successfully built another monumental edifice in the era of Songun by displaying the matchless popular heroism and noble self-sacrificing spirit in hearty response to the Party's grand nature-harnessing plan.

It expressed belief that all the builders and their helpers would make greater successes in carrying out their revolutionary tasks, single-mindedly united around General Secretary Kim Jong Il and thus creditably live up to the great trust and expectation of the party.

Mun Pong Ryong, director of the Tideland Reclamation Guidance Bureau, in a speech on the completion said that President Kim Il Sung opened a bright prospect for reclaiming the tideland in the western coastal areas long ago, formed a powerful reclamation force, clarified the orientation and ways to dynamically push forward the reclamation and wisely led it.

The speaker noted:

Visiting the reclamation site of the Taegyedo Tideland on June 13, Juche 97 (2008), Kim Jong Il took the revolutionary measures to push ahead with the tideland reclamation while recollecting with deep emotion the undying feats performed by the President who worked heart and soul to provide the eternal treasure of the country. He again visited the reclamation site in July last year and was satisfied with the fact that the vast gigantic nature-harnessing project was basically completed.

The builders turned out as one with one mind to devotedly implement the plan and intention of
Kim Jong Il and launched a decisive and dynamic drive to dam a rough sea.

The speaker called upon the builders in reclaiming the Taegyedo Tideland to make great leap forward in the tideland reclamation, true to the grand nature-harnessing plan of Kim Jong Il and the militant tasks set forth in the congratulatory message of the WPK Central Committee.
