Preparations in Progress for Rainy Season
Pyongyang, June 22 (KCNA) -- July and August bring the rainy season in Korea.

Preparations are going on in all economic sectors to cope with the wet season.

Coal mines in Anju, Pukchang and other areas of the country have taken measures to install pumps and pipes in faces to prevent damage from flood.

Thermal power stations have concentrated efforts on repairing roofs of coaling stations to prevent loss of coal by rainy wind and on waterway projects.

Hydroelectric power stations are ready to keep much water in reservoirs to boost power production.

Power distribution stations have taken measures to protect pylons, power poles and lines and transformers from torrential rain.

The railway transport sector has reinforced railroads, railway bridges and other related structures, particularly grade sections and places susceptible to landslide.

Those in construction of dwelling houses have taken safety steps for buildings under construction and building materials, including cement.

Meanwhile, industrial establishments throughout the country have paid close attention to protecting equipment and raw materials from flood.
