6.18 Shock Brigade Greets Tenth Birthday
Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- Ten years has elapsed since the June 18 Shock Brigade started its work in the Mt. Paektu and Samjiyon areas.

During the period, the shock brigade has fully displayed its might as a powerful construction unit in the spirit of Mt. Paektu and self-reliance.

The shock brigade has finished a hundred and dozens of projects, including the Victorious Musan Area Battle Memorial Tower, and constructed or reconstructed the Paektu Museum, Samjiyon County House of Culture and other public buildings and thousands of dwelling houses.

They have also built roads extending hundreds of kilometers, many bridges and power stations, including the Samsu Power Station.

Thanks to their painstaking efforts, the revolutionary battle sites and revolutionary sites in the Mt. Paektu area have turned into a large center of education in revolutionary traditions and places good to live in.

Many people of the shock brigade have been honored with the tile of Labor Hero and official commendations.

Last year, General Secretary Kim Jong Il sent a letter of special thanks and presents to the members of the shock brigade and bestowed great political confidence on them, appreciating what they had done for the Workers' Party of Korea and the revolution.

They are still making a good job in different projects.

Those in charge of the Kosan Fruit Farm construction have carried out the first-stage land rezoning covering hundreds of hectares and planted a large number of fruit trees in a short span of time. They have also constructed roads extending over 20 kilometers.

Those who already hit their targets in land rezoning and fruit tree planting in the Taedonggang Combined Fruit Farm are now registering successes in bank revetment, pig farm and other construction projects.
