Probe into Truth behind Warship Case Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- 43 civic and public organizations in south Korea including the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Solidarity for Progress and the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification formed the Joint Action for Probing the Truth behind the Case of Warship Cheonan and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula on June 16.

A press conference as regards its formation took place in Seoul on the same day.

A press release read out there accused the "government" of pursuing the policy of confrontation with the DPRK based on unscientific "results of investigation" against the backdrop of growing foreign and domestic doubts and arguments about the sinking case. This has resulted in seriously threatening the peace of the Korean Peninsula, it deplored.

It stressed that the organization would carry on its positive activities to probe the truth behind the warship case in scientific and objective way.

Medical organizations including the Confederation of Public Health and Medial Organizations, the Council of Doctors for Realizing Humanitarianism and the Solidarity for Labor and Good Health in a joint statement on June 17 urged the south Korean authorities to immediately stop the suppression of the Citizen's Solidarity for Democratic Society. The solidarity sent a letter of protest to the UN Security Council in request of fair and objective discussion on the case of "Cheonan".

The joint action held a press conference in Seoul on June 17 at which it condemned the U.S. imperialists and the puppet group for their confab on applying international sanctions against the DPRK over the case.
