Magnolia, National Flower of Korea
Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- Many people have visited the Central Botanical Garden in Pyongyang to enjoy the scenery of magnolia in bloom.

Magnolia is now in flower in different areas of the country including botanical gardens.

The white flower of magnolia represents the wisdom and noble and strong spirit of the Korean people.

With inverse oval petals, glossy dark-green leaves, many strong branches and sweet odor, magnolia is called "king of flowers" in Korea.

Magnolia was named national flower at the suggestion of President Kim Il Sung.

Some time ago, Czech newspaper Halo Noviny wrote about the magnolia as follows: In Korea the magnolia flower, which purports trust and purity, symbolizes love, happiness, hope, future and firm faith. The flower, loved by all the Korean people, is cultivated in rural areas, villages, working places, schools, recreation centers and other places of the country.
