Neolithic Earthenware Discovered
Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- Archeologists of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have unearthed striped earthenware dating back to the Neolithic era in Phyodae in Honam-ri, Samsok District, Pyongyang.

It is 28 centimeters across in mouth, 18.8 centimeters across in trunk and 30 centimeters high. It, a sort of jar, is peculiar in shape and delicate in pattern.

The mouth has spot, zigzag and other patterns, while the trunk is patterned with two parallel lines intertwined with another two on the bias, each parallel lines being fraught with short oblique lines.

When the jar was unearthed, it was in better state than other discovered pieces of earthenware.

Until the new discovery, such earthenware pieces had been excavated in North Hwanghae Province and Nampho City only.
