Peace on Korean Peninsula Called for in S. Korea

| Pyongyang, June 4 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters for the Promotion of the Korean Community of the south Korean Buddhist Jogye Order made public a statement on May 31 calling on the Buddhists to turn out in a movement for achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula. The statement held that the case of warship "Cheonan" sinking pushed the situation on the Korean Peninsula to a crisis. It urged the authorities to immediately stop the military confrontation and the resumed psychological warfare, a provocation to the DPRK, and come out for a dialogue. The organization fixed June as a month for achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula and announced that it would conduct during the month diverse activities for reconciliation and peace against confrontation and war, it noted. |
