Event on DPRK Held in Finland
Pyongyang, May 28 (KCNA) -- An event "Chollima-Country of Sports, Evening of Culture" took place in Finland on May 20.

Displayed in its venue were photos introducing the achievements made by the DPRK in building a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation and its development of sports.

Antti Sika Aho, chairman of the Finland-Korea Society, said at the event that sports are making rapid progress in the DPRK under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, chairman of its National Defence Commission.

He noted that the DPRK was qualified to participate in the 2010 FIFA World Cup and won the title of the 16th Taekwon-Do World Championships, giving great encouragement not only to the Korean people in the drive for building a thriving nation but to the members of the association.

Charging that the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors in south Korea is getting frantic with the moves to escalate confrontation with the DPRK, groundlessly linking the sinking of warship "Cheonan" with it, he went on to say:

We vehemently denounce the south Korean authorities' smear campaign against the DPRK and express full support for the statement issued by the spokesman for the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.

We extend full support and solidarity to the Korean people in their efforts to build a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and will strive for friendship between Finland and the DPRK.

The DPRK's successes in sports were introduced at the event.

The participants went round photos on display before watching the Korean film "Female Football Players of Songun Korea."
