Kim Jong Il Inspects Ryongsong Machine Complex
Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Ryongsong Machine Complex.

After being briefed on the complex before a large map showing its panoramic view, he went round for a long while the inside of the new casting shop to acquaint himself in detail with its construction and technical equipment.

Watching the streamlined production processes equipped with cutting-edge technology and work sites kept neat and tidy, he expressed great satisfaction with the successful construction of the modern casting shop.

He highly appreciated the feats performed by the officials, workers and technicians of the complex, saying it is a signal success, indeed, for them to have built a casting shop by their own efforts as required by the IT age, bringing about a new change in the casting revolution.

He set forth tasks to be fulfilled by the shop, noting that the casting shop of the Ryongsong Machine Complex has an important role to play in the production of castings on the east coast.

Such basic processes as steel casting, molding and forging are important for modernizing the complex and boosting the production of machines, he said, underlining the need to steadily increase the role of the shop equipped with latest facilities.

He noted that in order to keep the production of castings going at a high rate and improve the quality of products, it is necessary to intensify the technological education of the technicians and workers.

He then made the rounds of various places including Machine Shop No. 4 to acquaint himself with the production of custom-built equipment.

Learning in detail about the mechanism, performance and operation principle of lots of various type modern large machines and equipment including a 90,000 cubic meter centrifugal compressor standing in rows in the shop, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the workers of the complex made splendid creations greatly conducive to the prosperity of the country.

Strongly backed by hosts of powerful machine plants such as the Ryongsong Machine Complex, we could successfully realize the socialist industrialization in such a brief span of time and rapidly augment the nation's economic potential, he said, adding that this strikingly demonstrates the validity and tremendous vitality of the WPK's original economic line on simultaneously developing light industry and agriculture, while giving priority to the development of the heavy industry with the machine-building industry as its core.

He set forth important tasks to be fulfilled by the complex.

He underlined the need to energetically accelerate the modernization and scientization of the complex and widely introduce advanced technology in order to put the machine-building industry on a new high stage as required by the new century.

He had a photo session with labor innovators of the complex.

After touring Hamhung City, he examined a miniature of the city construction layout plan and other plans for the development of major economic fields in South Hamgyong Province and guided the work in this domain on the spot.

Underscoring the need to build Hamhung City under a long-term plan by thoroughly applying the socialist principle, the principle of popular character as it is the industrial city with a large number of workers, he specified the orientation and ways to do so.

He was accompanied by Thae Jong Su, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Secretary Kim Ki Nam, Department Directors Kim Kyong Hui and Jang Song Thaek and First Vice Department Directors Ju Kyu Chang and Ri Je Gang of the WPK Central Committee and Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su, department directors of the NDC.
