Halt to Suppression of Jongyojo Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- The Teachers Trade Union of south Korea (Jongyojo) held a rally in Seoul on May 16 on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of its formation.

The organization recalled that Jongyojo has conducted positive actions as a legitimate organization for the proper education and the social democracy for years.

Accusing the present regime of getting frantic in its moves to suppress the organization as evidenced by the massive discharge, prosecution, search and confiscation, opening to the public a list of unionists, scrapping of collective contract, etc. the organization held that such repressive racket is bound to go bust.

The organization declared that it would wage a positive struggle to force the authorities to drop its unpopular educational policy benefiting a tiny handful of rich only.

The organization urged the "government" to stop the suppression of Jongyojo and protect the teachers and students' rights.
