Settlement of Issue of Support for Korean Schools Called for
Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- A meeting of parents of students of Tokyo Korean Senior Middle School was held at the Korean Hall of Culture in Tokyo on May 9 to vow to stage actions for the settlement of the issue of support for Korean schools.

It was addressed by Sin Kil Ung, principal of the said school, Kim Tong Hak, secretary-general of the Korean Human Rights Association in Japan, and others.

The speakers held that the action taken by the Japanese authorities to exclude Korean schools from the list of support for the senior middle schools is part of their suppression and policy of discrimination against the Korean residents in Japan which have been persistently pursued over the past decades.

Noting that it is an important task facing the parents of Korean students and other Korean children to protect the Korean schools and develop the national education, they called upon the parents to single-mindedly unite to seek a solution to the above-said issue.

A letter of request to the prime minister and the minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan was adopted at the meeting.

A video related to the issue was shown prior to the meeting.
