Police's Interfere in "Elections" Censured in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification on May 11 issued a statement titled "Let's judge the dictatorial regime for using police for its operation to stage government power-dominated elections".

The statement referred to the recently disclosed fact that the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency worked out and distributed a document dealing with the "strategy of the left-wing forces" for the election of the "Seoul education inspector", "plans of support by the Teachers Union, the Confederation of Trade Unions and others" and the strategy for ensuring the ruling forces' victory in the "elections".

What merits more serious attention is that the chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency openly revealed his intention not to stop the police from interfering in the "elections", far from reflecting on their crimes, the statement deplored.

It accused the "Election Management Committee" of patronizing the police, claiming that it is the "duty peculiar to the police", an issue which does not allow the committee to meddle in.

The statement blasted the committee for shifting the responsibility for investigation into it on to the prosecution and the prosecution for shunning the investigation. It called upon all the people to frustrate the moves of the security forces to interfere in the "elections" and mete out a stern judgment to them.

All the people should inflict a crushing defeat on the conservative ruling forces through the "elections to the local self-governing bodies" in particular, the statement urged.
