The global peace and security are directly related to denuclearization, the statement said, adding that the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is part of the world denuclearization.

The statement continued: As far as the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula is concerned, it was spawned as an inevitable consequence of the ceaseless nuclear threat posed to the DPRK by the U.S. for a long time.

Noting that the nuclear deterrent built by the DPRK to cope with the U.S. nuclear threat was a self-defensive measure for reacting to "nukes with nukes", the statement held that any country is entitled to have any means to defend itself.

He voiced full support for the DPRK's proposal for concluding a peace treaty.
