Ruined Kiln Belonging to Neolithic Era Unearthed
Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- Korean archeologists have discovered a ruined kiln dating back to the Neolithic era in Richon-ri, Sungho County, North Hwanghae Province.

A trace of fire, 125-145 centimeters in diameter, was found out in the center of the oval-shaped kiln site.

Ten pieces of earthenware were also excavated in the site. In view of the shape and size of the ruined kiln and the measurement of the broken earthenware, the remains are estimated to be round 6,500 years old, the middle of the Neolithic era.

The discovery of the remains, believed to be the oldest kiln site among those found out in the country, on the basin of the River Taedong is of weighty significance in ascertaining the historical position of Pyongyang as a birthplace of human culture and a center of cultural development.
