DPRK Proves Successful at Asian Taekwon-Do Championships
Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- The DPRK proved successful at the 5th Asian Taekwon-Do Championships.

The championships brought together more than 200 male and female players from 13 countries and regions including the DPRK, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and the Far East of Russia.

The DPRK players bagged 24 gold, four silver and nine bronze medals, thus placing first in the countries standings.

They came first in adult men's and women's team standings, men's and women's team pattern competitions and women's team sparring.

Gold medalists in adult level include Ri Hyon and Jang In Myong in the second and the third grade of men's individual pattern competitions, Yun Chung Nam in the first grade of men's individual pattern competitions and 64 kg category sparring, Ri Myong Jin in the fourth grade of men's individual pattern competitions, individual demonstration show and 71 kg category sparring, Ri Kyong Gum in the third grade of women's individual pattern competitions, Ri Su Ryon and Sin Jong Hwa in 63 kg and 69 kg category sparring, Hwang Hyang Mi in exhibition for special skill and 45 kg category sparring, Im Hyon Sun in the second grade of women's individual pattern competitions and 51 kg category sparring and O Kum Ju in the fourth grade of women's individual pattern competitions and 75 kg category sparring.

Kim Hyang Sim took the first in the junior third grade of women's individual pattern competitions, 64 kg category sparring and exhibition for special skill.
