S. Korea Accused of Blocking Reunification Event
Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- Members of various civic and public organizations in south Korea in a press interview on May 1 denounced the puppet authorities for blocking the May Day reunification event of workers in the north and the south.

Kim Yong Hun, chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions, said that the responsibility for torpedoing the event commemorating the 120th May Day for implementing the June 15 joint declaration entirely rests with the present "government".

He expressed irrepressible indignation at the authorities who stood in the way of the exchange for reunification, persistently taking a negative approach towards the above-said event.

Ri Kyong Won, secretary general of the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification, noted that the projected event could not be held due to the present authorities' policy of confrontation with the DPRK.

Ri Kang Sil, permanent co-representative of the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea, said the "government" mercilessly dampened the desire of the workers to make a contribution to improving the inter-Korean relations, declaring that the organization would take the lead in the struggle for reunification with redoubled efforts in the future.

Meanwhile, officials concerned with the Confederation of Trade Unions under the Labor Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration noted in an article posted on the Internet homepage on April 30 that they would overcome the present difficulties and plan a more dynamic reunification movement and strive to implement it.
