Wreaths and Floral Baskets Laid
Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- Wreaths were placed before the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong and the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery and floral baskets before the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Memorial Tower on Sunday, the 78th birthday of the Korean People's Army.

Seen on the wreath-laying stands of the cemeteries were wreaths from Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.

Present at the ceremonies were senior party, army and state officials, the chairperson of a friendly party, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons and working people in the city of Pyongyang.

Placed at the stands of the cemeteries were wreaths in the name of the WPK Central Committee, the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and the Cabinet of the DPRK while a floral basket in the joint name of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the WPK was laid before the main sculpture of the tower "Victory".

Also laid there were wreaths and floral baskets in the name of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, social organizations, ministries, national institutions, KPA units and scientific, educational, cultural and art, public health and media and press organs and institutions and industrial establishments at all levels, farms and schools in the city.

The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of the martyrs and paid respects to the men and officers of the KPA who won the shining victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

They placed bouquets and flowers before the bust of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese heroine, at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong.

Wreaths and flowers were also laid before the statues of martyrs, the monuments to fallen KPA soldiers and the martyrs cemeteries in other parts of the country.

The military attaches corps here placed a wreath and a floral basket before the cemetery on Mt. Taesong and the war memorial tower and bouquets before the bust of Kim Jong Suk at the cemetery.
