Fascist Police Action under Fire in S. Korea
Pyongyang, April 22 (KCNA) -- The Preparatory Committee of the Student Committee of the Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration in south Korea in a statement issued on April 18 denounced the fascist police for their evermore undisguised suppression of youth and students.

The statement recalled that the police unreasonably arrested Kim Hyon Ung, student of Jonnam National University, the former chief of the Action Headquarters of the Federation of University Student Councils of south Korea, on April 16, adding that this action fully reflects the present reality of south Korea in which dictatorship has been revived and democracy savagely trampled down.

It recalled that the fascist police are busy these days with the moves to crack down upon youth and students as evidenced by their frantic activities to issue summons against leading members of the south Korean Federation of University Students in the 21st Century on charges of violations of the "National Security Law."

Terming this a cynical ploy of the authorities to hold in check the activities of the progressive students with the "election to the local self-governing bodies" at hand, the statement urged the authorities to properly understand the public mind-set and abolish the NSL, a product of dictatorship, without delay.

In another development, the south Korean Solidarity of Youth in a statement issued on April 19 denounced the fascist police for arresting two students on their way home after participating in the meeting held on the 18th to mark the 50th anniversary of the April 19 Popular Uprising and declared that the young people would join people from all walks of life in the actions for the release of the arrestees and the freedom of assembly and demonstration.
