Various Silk Manufactures Produced
Pyongyang, April 21 (KCNA) -- Various kinds of silk manufactures have been produced with cocoon fiber in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The Korean people had done farming and silk culture on a high level already in the period when many other tribes were engaging in hunting and nomadism only.

The production of Korean-made silk fabrics, which had been popular in neighboring countries, began to be mass-produced after the country was liberated from the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule on August 15, 1945.

In recent years the Kim Jong Suk Pyongyang Silk Mill and other silk mills throughout the country have steadily increased the production of silk thread and silk goods, including silk cloth, velvet and blanket, on the basis of up-to-date technologies.

Meanwhile, Jagang and other provinces have extensively created and properly manured and tended mulberry fields to fully supply raw materials to the silk mills.

The demand for the Korean-made silk goods is ever growing in local and foreign markets.
