Reporters and speakers at the meetings noted that Kim Jong Il's election as NDC chairman provided a sure guarantee for successfully carrying forward President Kim Il Sung's idea and feats for self-reliant defence building and his original nation-building cause and accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche started on Mt. Paektu.

They said that Kim Jong Il further strengthened the DPRK into the state of Kim Il Sung and formulated the Songun policy as the main political mode of socialism and has fully applied it to the revolution and construction.

They recalled that Kim Jong Il trained the servicepersons and people to be persons of ideology and faith and closely rallied them and increased the politico-ideological and military power of the DPRK in every way.

He also unrolled the grandiose plan for building an economic power and, through his energetic leadership, kindled the flames of a new great revolutionary surge across the country, thus making last year a year of epochal changes in which the ideals of the people come true, they stressed.

They called upon all the people to regard his idea and feats as their motto of life and struggle and immovable faith and remain true to the Songun revolutionary leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.
