Japan's Discrimination against Korean Schools Protested
Pyongyang, April 6 (KCNA) -- Protests of Koreans in Japan and Japanese citizens are going on everyday in different parts of Japan to denounce the Japanese authorities for their discrimination against the Korean schools.

"March 28 rally to reject national discrimination and xenophobia and not to pardon attack on Korean schools!" was held in Kyoto on March 28. It was co-sponsored by Japanese civic organizations including the "Kyoto City Society for Supporting Korean Schools".

Present there were at least 900 Koreans in Japan and Japanese citizens.

At the rally speakers recalled the unreasonable behavior of the Japanese authorities to exclude Korean schools from the tuition-free program for senior high schools. They called upon all people to pool their efforts to put an end to discrimination in the Japanese society.

At the end of the rally its participants staged a demonstration march.

An emergency rally to denounce the discrimination against the Korean schools was held in Kobe on March 29 under the co-sponsorship of 23 organizations including the Hyogo Prefectural Citizens' Society for Japan-DPRK Friendship. At the rally speakers called upon men and women of all ages to turn out in the drive to settle the issue of supporting the Korean schools.

The rally adopted an appeal demanding the Japanese government cancel its policy of discrimination against the Korean schools.

Meanwhile, members of City Assembly in the Kennan area of Ibaraki Prefecture visited the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on March 31 and conveyed to it a written request addressed to the minister.
