Joint Communique on Kim Yong Nam's Gambia Visit Issued
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- A joint communique on the official goodwill visit to the Republic of Gambia by Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, was made public in Banjul on April 3.

The communique said:

Kim Yong Nam, president of the SPA Presidium of the DPRK, paid an official goodwill visit to Gambia from April 1 to 3, 2010, at the invitation of Gambian President Yaya A.J.J. Jammeh.

During the visit, talks were held between Kim Yong Nam and Yaya A.J.J. Jammeh.

At the talks, they expressed the need to further consolidate the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

They exchanged views on the political and economic situation in the Korean Peninsula, the African Continent and other regions of the world and had a discussion on ensuring peace and security as a precondition for the development.

They also expressed will to cooperate with each other in opposing all sorts of factors obstructive to peace, security and progress in the Korean Peninsula and the African Continent and affirmed that stability can not be achieved without peace.

They expressed the will to develop the South-South cooperation and cooperate with each other at the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement, the African Union and other international bodies.

They repeatedly stressed the need to respect the laws on global peace and security and provide justice and leniency.

Kim Yong Nam expressed thanks to the president, the government and the people of Gambia for their warm hospitality accorded during the visit and invited the Gambian president to visit the DPRK at an early date. The Gambian president accepted this invitation and it was decided to fix the period of his visit through diplomatic channel.
