Scientist of Dignity in Applied Chemistry
Pyongyang, March 31 (KCNA) -- A new kind of lead-acid battery for safety lamp has been developed by Dr. Choe Mun Il, a section chief of the Catalyst Research Institute of Kim Il Sung University, and introduced into coal mines in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, well received by the users for its small size, good efficiency and long discharging time.

He, crowned with the title of Merited Scientist, has developed various kinds of batteries such as a lithium battery and an engine-starting battery, winning prestige in the applied chemistry sector.

He, who started his career as a scientist early in the 1980s, has made a contribution to putting the national economy on a modern basis with scores of valuable inventions, including a chemiluminescence analyzer.

In particular a nanocarbonic dispersion solution, an additive for lead-acid battery, and an oxygen concentration measuring instrument are of great significance in the industrial development and preservation of historic relics.

He has brought up tens of awardees of academic degrees or titles and written lots of books and scientific papers conducive to education over the nearly three decades.
