Grand People's Study House Draws Increasing Number of Visitors
Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- The Grand People's Study House is serving as a reliable centre for disseminating science and technology in the DPRK.

President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il made sure that the study house was built as a magnificent edifice and established its management system and ways while sending it education facilities and books.

On April 1, Juche 71 (1982) it was inaugurated as a centre for social education with a huge capacity to house books, scientific forces and education facilities.

The number of books, materials and e-media sent by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il to the house in more than 1,090 installments over the past 28 years reached more than 690,300 of at least 620,900 varieties.

The study house is effectively organizing lectures and training courses in conformity with the characteristic features of the applicants such as lectures on scientific theories, lectures on new technological information and training courses on science and technology and foreign languages.

At least 4,966,700 persons including officials of ministries, national institutions, universities, scientific research institutions, scientists and researchers participated in the lectures or training courses to acquire modern science and technology. They have made contributions to boosting production and construction.

Reeducation of scientists and technicians and technical personnel from work sites is organized by the study house under plans. Its staff members are also visiting various units to disseminate science and technology and give lectures for technicians and workers in work sites to help them settle urgent scientific and technological problems.

It is busy providing diverse information services such as computer search for lists, E-library service and computer-aided lectures.

More than 39.2 million people from all walks of life and school youth and children have benefited from lectures, book reading and lending at the study house over the past 28 years.
