Kim Jong Il Enjoys Performance Given by State Symphony Orchestra
Pyongyang, March 27 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il enjoyed a performance given by the State Symphony Orchestra.

It put on the stage orchestral prelude "Cantata to Comrade Kim Jong Il", string concert "The Leader Has Come to Our Post", orchestral music "Higher and Faster", "Push Back Frontiers of Science" and "My Hometown," symphony "The Dear Home in My Native Village," wind trio and string ensemble for pizzicato "Song of Girl", orchestral music "Charm" and "Our General Is the Best" and other colorful numbers.

The performers represented with pride the glorious path covered by the Korean revolution and successfully reflected the unshakable faith and will of the army and the people of the DPRK to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche and that of building a thriving nation under the uplifted great banner of Songun at any cost.

They, at the same time, made the national flavor strongly felt with peculiar sound resonance and perfect ensemble of mixed orchestral music and gave full play to the strong emotional effect of orchestral music, thus clearly proving the validity and vitality of the WPK's literary and art policy which calls for making creation, arrangement and representation in Korean style in all aspects.

As the performance was over, he waved back to the enthusiastically cheering artistes and audience and congratulated the performers on their successful presentation.

Expressing great satisfaction over the splendid performance staged by the creators and artistes of the symphony orchestra with high artistic talents, he extended high appreciation and thanks to them for their success in the performance.

Underscoring the need to represent the noble spiritual world of the people in the era of Songun through beautiful and rich artistic depiction so as to fully meet their cultural and emotional needs, he set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines for developing the Juche-oriented symphony.

Among the audience were Choe Thae Bok and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Kyong Hui, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Yong Il and Kim Yang Gon, department directors of the C. C., the WPK, and its other senior officials and Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and leading officials in the fields of literature, art and media.
