New Avermectin-making Method Developed
Pyongyang, March 25 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Aeguk Research Center for Compound Microorganisms of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have succeeded in making avermectin (AVM), a bio-agricultural chemical of the 21st century, with new fermentation technology and developed a technology for mass-producing it.

It is applicable to agriculture, stockbreeding, afforestation and other sectors. Having a long-time, strong insecticidal and miticidal effect, it can almost exterminate several dozen species of harmful insects with strong resistant properties.

The atoxic chemical gives no harmful effect on grains, fruits, vegetables and other farm products, human body and ecological environment including land, while considerably raising the efficacy of extermination with a negligible amount.

Hookworm and roundworm medical powder, pill and injection made with AVM are well received not only in animal husbandry and veterinary work but in public health.

Its efficacy has already been proved in the Migok Co-op Farm in Sariwon City, Samjigang Co-op Farm in Jaeryong County, Kosan Fruit Farm, Kyenam Stock Farm in South Hwanghae Province and other units.
